Throughout the course, students are exposed to various types of photography: portrait, landscape, commercial, fine art and social documentary and they have opportunities to meet a variety of working photographers. 

For the course students use $20 plastic medium format cameras called holgas that lend themselves to experimentation. When possible, we set up a darkroom for the youth to print their own proof sheets. The students take one roll of film a week (or daily if it's a 10 day course) and each meeting we discuss the prior classes exposures as a group and individually.
